Gillian Rose is Professor of Cultural Geography, and Head of the Geography Department, at The Open University. She has also taught cultural, social and feminist geographies at the Universities of London and Edinburgh. She is the author of Feminism and Geography (Polity Press, 1993), Visual Methodologies (Sage, second edition 2007), and several papers on photography, space and identity. She has lived in both Bedford and Milton Keynes and will not be drawn on which one she prefers.

Dr. Monica Degen is a lecturer in Cultural Sociology at Brunel University, London. Her research interests are the politics of space, embodiment and the senses, and urban cultures. She has recently published the book Sensing Cities: Regenerating public life in Barcelona and Manchester with Routledge and an edited collection of essays on Barcelona’s urban transformation since the Olympics: La Metaciudad Barcelona with Editorial Anthropos

Dr. Begum Basdas completed her PhD at the University of California Los Angeles, Department of Geography in 2007. Her doctoral research focused on issues of public space, cosmopolitanism, feminist activism, gender and sexuality in Istanbul, Turkey. She is currently working as a post-doctoral Research Fellow for the Open University.

Manuela Barz
holds a BA (Hons) in Architecture and completed a Masters Degree in Computer Arts at Thames Valley University, London and will be undertaking studies for a Research Degree at London Metropolitan University. Her research will be focusing on virtual learning spaces in prison environments. In her role as a new media consultant for Urban Aesthetics she is designing the web presence and translating research results into virtually explorable maps and spaces.
